Leading strategic communications and government affairs firm The Glover Park Group (GPG) today announced that Tod Preston has joined the Government Affairs practice as Senior Vice President. In this role, Preston will focus primarily on foreign policy, national security and international development issues.
Preston joins GPG with two decades of experience in government relations and public policy earned on Capitol Hill, in the Administration and in the international development community. He was most recently director of government relations for the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), where he spent five years leading operations for a coalition of more than 400 major U.S. corporations and NGOs advocating for foreign assistance.
“Tod brings to our team and our clients expertise in legislative affairs, coalition management, and U.S. foreign policy,” said Managing Director Brett O’Brien, who leads the firm’s International Affairs team. “He is a seasoned advocate, communicator and political strategist. Prior to joining the USGLC, Preston was vice president for U.S. government relations at Population Action International (PAI) and a congressional liaison and speechwriter at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also worked as a legislative aide and legislative director in the House of Representatives, including for Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY) and on the House Subcommittee on Environment and Natural Resources.
