Scott Weier is a Senior Vice President in GPG’s Health+Wellness Practice.
Scott specializes in integrated communications campaigns that typically include advertising and government relations in addition to earned and owned media strategies. He has deep expertise in crafting and delivering messages related to health care, health policy and public health.
Before joining GPG, Scott managed strategic communications for Avalere Health, a D.C.-based consulting firm focused on health policy and business. At Avalere, Scott worked across content teams, spearheading strategic communication engagements for a wide range of pharmaceutical, provider, foundation, device, managed care and association clients.
Prior to joining Avalere, Scott spent several years in the editorial world, managing publications for the Advisory Board Company, the California HealthCare Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). He was the editor of iHealthBeat and the Daily Briefing and part of a small editorial team that launched news digests on the RWJF website. In addition to these full-time posts, Scott freelanced for MSN.com, Citysearch.com and AOL.com.
Scott also worked as the White House Liaison for DraftFCB, serving as the on-site account lead for the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s “Above the Influence” antidrug social marketing campaign. In that role, Scott helped launch ONDCP’s campaign to raise awareness of prescription drug abuse. That work included a 30-second commercial during the 2008 Super Bowl.
Scott earned a joint Masters in Public Health and MBA from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, and received a BA in English and Communication from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
