Cara McVie is CFO at The Glover Park Group, where she focuses on strategy, financial reporting and accounting. She provides GPG’s CEO, senior management and corporate parent with a strategic perspective, financial understanding and comprehensive performance analytics of the business. Cara leads the accounting and financial reporting teams, leads financial forecasting and planning, develops and enhances financial systems and manages initiatives and analyses tied to optimizing operational results and supporting business growth. She began advising GPG in 2004 on its growth opportunities and then joined the company in 2005.
Cara’s background is in corporate strategy and investing. She started her career as a Consultant with Bain and Company, a global strategy consulting firm. She worked on corporate growth, turnaround, profit improvement and M&A strategies for worldwide clients in a mix of industries, including media and entertainment, airlines, financial services, utilities, chocolate and designer apparel. While at Bain, she spent two years working abroad, in Bain’s Paris and Sydney offices. After attending business school, Cara joined Capital Research and Management, the fund managers of the largest mutual fund family in the US, the American Funds. There, she worked as an Investment Analyst, performing fundamental equity research and valuation in the medical technology industry, and making and advising on investments in the industry.
Cara graduated with Highest Honors from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, through which she completed a summer internship in the Champagne region of France. She received her MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. She lives with her husband and three sons in Bethesda, MD.
