After 26 ½ years on Capitol Hill – with the last 16 ½ years working in the House Republican Leadership – Brian Gaston joined The Glover Park Group as a Managing Director in the firm’s Government Affairs Division. Brian provides strategic, legislative and political advice to clients seeking to advance their legislative objectives on Capitol Hill. Brian works on a range of clients involved in telecommunications, broadcasting, privacy, health care and financial services. Some of his clients include The Carlyle Group, Disney, RIAA, Viacom, Epsilon, The Grocery Manufacturers Association and JP Morgan Chase.
Prior to joining GPG, Brian worked in the House Republican Leadership from 1993-2010 crafting and implementing legislative and political strategy. He was chief of staff to Republican Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) from 2004-08, then served as Blunt’s leadership advisor from 2009-10 where he managed Blunt’s role as chair of the House Republican Health Care Solutions Group. From 1999-2002 Brian was policy director to House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX), and from 1995-99 he was policy director to House Republican Conference Chairman John Boehner (R-OH). In his policy positions to Blunt, Armey and Boehner, Brian handled tax, trade, economic, budget, financial services, immigration and labor issues.
Brian started his Hill career in 1984 as a legislative correspondent for Senator Charles Percy (R-IL). He then was an LA and then LD for Congressman Harris Fawell (R-IL) from 1985-89, handling Fawell’s work on the House Education and Labor Committee. He then served four years as the Washington chief of staff for Congresswoman Jan Meyers (R-KS).
Brian graduated cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Services with a degree in International Economics. He is a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C. and resides in Old Town Alexandria, VA.
