Leading strategic communications and government affairs firm The Glover Park Group (GPG) today announced that Daniel Watson has joined the firm as a Vice President. Watson will work in the Strategic Communications practice, primarily on the financial services team, providing strategic and media counsel for the firm’s clients.
Watson comes to GPG with a decade of experience in politics and communications, including five years in senior communications roles in the Obama Administration, most recently serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Treasury. During his time at Treasury, Watson coordinated communications on high profile issues and crises and engaged with the financial services industry.
Watson also previously served at the Federal Emergency Management Agency as the associate director of public affairs & press secretary, where he was the agency’s primary spokesperson for more than 200 federal disaster declarations, including the federal response to Hurricane Sandy. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Watson worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Tom Udall as press secretary and online communications director.

Watson graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and started his career in politics at the 2008 Democratic National Convention Committee in Denver, Obama for America and the Presidential Inaugural Committee during the 2008 presidential election.
